APRIL 16 – COMMEMORATIONS OF THE BATTLE OF KAPYONG IN LANGLEY & CALGARY
Langley, BC - Senator Martin joined Korea War Veterans, Consul General Byung-won Chung, Mayor Jack Froese, MP John Aldag, MP Mark Warawa, special guests and members of the local Korean Canadian community in Derek Doubleday Arboretum at the site of the Kapyong Memorial Stone. A ceremony was held to commemorate and honour the bravery and heroic actions of the 2nd Battalion of Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry during the Korea War. Calgary, AB - On April 27th, Korea War Veterans, dignitaries, community leaders, and members of the Korean War Commemorative Committee (KWCC) gathered at the Calgary Korean Association Centre for a special wreath laying ceremony to commemorate the 68th Anniversary of the Battle of Kapyong.

Vancouver, BC – Senator Martin joined the Hon. Andrew Scheer at the Vancouver Vaisakhi event to celebrate the Sikh New Year with local members of the community.

APRIL 12 – MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR THE LATE PETER SEIERSEN
Nanaimo, BC – Senator Martin attended a memorial service to celebrate the life of the late Peter Seiersen, an honoured Korea War Veteran, former National President of the Korea Veterans Association and former coordinator for the Korea Revisit Program for veterans.

Ottawa, ON – On April 10th, Senator Martin met with President Jeff Clark and Vice President Scott Alleyn from the Burnaby Firefighters Association Local 323. On the same day, Senator Martin attended the World Refugee Council Reception hosted by Senator Omidvar.
APRIL 6 – “FIRST DIAMOND CUP” CONSTRUCTION ENTERPRISE ELITE AWARDS
Burnaby, BC - Senator Martin attended the First Diamond Cup Awards Construction Enterprise Elite Selection and Commendation Conference hosted by the North American Construction Industry Chamber of Commerce. She was joined by her colleagues MP Alice Wong and MP Joe Peschisolido, and other dignitaries, including delegates from the Chinese Embassy, Xiao Ping Huang Chen, Burnaby City Councillor James Wang, Richmond City Councillor Chak Au, and Vancouver City Councillor Michael Wiebe. Senator Martin enjoyed all the performances and presented the First Diamond Cup Awards to selected winners from the Construction and Architecture industries in Vancouver.
APRIL 6 – MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR LATE JEAN-PIERRE VAN ECK
Edmonton, AB – Senator Martin attended a memorial service to celebrate the life of the late Jean-Pierre Van Eck, an honoured Korea War Veteran and former President of the Korea Veterans Association (KVA) Unit 21.

Vancouver, BC - Senator Martin attended St. Patrick’s choir Sunday concert.
MARCH 30 – CAFE LOGOS AND RESOURCE CENTRE OPENING CEREMONY
Vancouver, BC - Senator Martin attended the Canadian Bible Society’s (CBS) grand opening of its Café Logos and Resource Centre. Senator Martin presented remarks on behalf of the Senate of Canada and spoke about the significance of community. She enjoyed a time of fellowship with dignitaries, performers, community leaders, volunteers and CBS National Director Rev. Dr. Rupen Das and CBS Director of National Programs Duncan Campbell.
MARCH 25 – AMBASSADOR FOR PEACE MEDAL CEREMONY
Clearwater, FL- Senator Martin delivered remarks on behalf of the Senate of Canada at a special ceremony honouring the 8 recipients of the Ambassador for Peace Medal. The Medal is awarded to Korean War Veterans in recognition for their exceptional contributions and acts of heroism during the Korean War.
