GEORGE DERBY CHRISTMAS CONCERT & VISIT
Burnaby, BC - On December 6th, Senator Martin and a team of dedicated volunteers visited the George Derby Centre for a Christmas visit. The visit featured entertainment from the Canada Muse Orchestra and Choirs that sang Christmas songs to the residents.

WWII COMMEMORATIVE PINS AND CERTIFICATES PRESENTATION
Burnaby, BC - On November 28th, Senator Martin honoured World War II veterans at the George Derby centre by presenting them with commemorative lapel pins and certificates. Senator Martin presented pins to 29 residents that served in World War II, and 215 residents in total will be receiving the pins and certificates. The pins commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Canada’s engagement in the Second World War.
RETIREMENT RECEPTION FOR SPEAKER KINSELLA
Ottawa, ON - On November 27th, Senator Martin attended the retirement reception for outgoing Speaker Kinsella's retirement.
CANADA KOREA SOCIETY 30TH ANNIVERSARY
Ottawa, ON - On November 25th, Senator Martin attended the CKS 30th Anniversary AGM & Banquet with the Hon. Ed Fast to commemorate the CKS 30 year annivesary and the official ratification of Bill C41 (the Canada Korea Free Trade Agreement). Two solo violin pieces were performed by Canadian-Korean Judy Kang, and the background music performed by The Polished Brass Quintet. Following the anthems of both Canada and Korea, the legendary, poetic Korean folk song “Arirang” was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
CANADA-BULGARIA INTERPARLIAMENTARY FRIENDSHIP GROUP
Ottawa, ON – On November 24th, Senator Martin, along with fellow Parliamentarians, met for a dinner reception hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria for the first ever Canada- Bulgaria Inter-parliamentary Friendship Group meeting. Senator Martin spoke on Canada and Bulgaria’s strong bilateral trade relationship, making it one of the strongest in South-East Europe, as well as the ties and values that unite Canadians and Bulgarians together. Motivated by their shared love for democracy and freedom, more than 30,000 Canadians trace their origins to Bulgaria, bringing with them their undeniable ethics of hard work, appreciation of education and deep respect for their religion and traditions. Senator Martin was elected as Vice-Chair, along with MP Russ Hiebert, for the New Canada-Bulgaria Inter-parliamentary Friendship Group.
UKCIA ECONOMIC FORUM
Coquitlam, BC - On November 22nd, Senator Martin participated in the UKCIA Economic Forum and CKFTA Roundtable. Senator Martin was one of the panel speakers discussing the economic benefits that the free trade implies for Canada and Korea. The discussion brought together the participation of 1, 1.5, and 2nd generation Korean-Canadian business and community leaders and the participation of the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce.
NUAC EVENT
Surrey, BC - On November 21st, Senator Martin attended NUAC’s New Generation Conference and was one of the key note speakers. The weekend conference discusses the issues pertaining to the future of Korea, and the hope for unification to bring peace to the peninsula.
NATIONAL CHILD BREAKFAST
Ottawa, ON - On November 20th, Senator Martin partook and spoke at the National Child Breakfast in the Senate foyer on Parliament Hill.
