VANCOUVER, BC - Senator Martin attended the Korean Seniors Society of BC Christmas Luncheon. There she connected with the local Korean-Canadian community and enjoyed in holiday festivities.
GEORGE DERBY CENTRE-CHRISTMAS AFTERNOON TEA
BURNABY, BC - As a tireless advocate for our veterans, Senator Martin makes regular visits to George Derby Centre, a centre which is home to many veterans. While there she visits with veterans and organizes programming and entertainment for them. This week she enjoyed some festive Christmas cheer and afternoon tea with residents.
KOREAN SOCIETY OF BC YEAR END GALA
VANCOUVER, BC - Senator Martin joined the Korean Society of BC for their year end gala. There she enjoyed connecting with others in the community and sharing in some holiday cheer.
CHRISTMAS VISIT TO THE PERLEY RIDEAU VETERANS' HEALTH CENTRE
OTTAWA, ON - Senator Martin attended Christmas celebrations at the Perley Rideau Vieterans' Health Centre. There she also congratulated Korea War veterans recently honoured with the Ambassador of Peace Medal. The medals were issued from the Government of the Republic of Korea. Senator Martin also enjoyed some festive cheer singing Christmas carols with the veterans.
MEETING 4MYCANADA
OTTAWA, ON - Sen. Martin took time to meet with 4MyCanada. The organization is a faith based, nondenominational group of young leaders in Canada from many Christian perspectives. Sen. Martin enjoyed hearing their ideas and sharing in their vision to make for a brighter Canada.
PRIME MINISTER'S AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION CEREMONY
COQUITLAM, BC - Senator Martin brought greetings on behalf of the Senate of Canada during the Prime Minister's Awards for Excellence in Early Childhood Education Ceremony. Jai Kyung Lee, the owner of Kids Village Preschool, a bilingual Korean-English childcare centre in Coquitlam was recognized for her commitment to helping a new generation of children learn foundational skills so that they may grow and become the leaders of tomorrow.
20TH ANNUAL SUN HANG DO CHAMPIONSHIPS
BURNABY, BC - Senator Martin attended the 20th Annual Sun Hang Do Championships hosted in the BCIT auditorium. There she witnessed an impressive display of precision, strength, and dedication as the athletes competed. The Surrey team won the team challenge and the coveted trophy.
NESIKA AWARDS
VANCOUVER, BC - Senator Martin brought greetings on behalf of the Senate of Canada to the Nesika Awards. The Nesika Awards celebrates BC's cultural diversity. This year’s recipients, Farhid Rohani as an individual, Affiliation of Multicultural Societies and Service Agencies of British Columbia (AMSSA) as an Organization, and Afro News as a Business were recognized for their exemplary work in promoting cultural understanding.
KOREAN COMMUNITY REMEMBRANCE DAY CEREMONY
BURNABY, BC - Senator Martin joined the Korean community to pay tribute to the veterans of the Korean War. The ceremony occured at The Ambassador of Peace - Korean War Memorial. This memorial proudly stands in Central Park, Burnaby, BC. Senator Martin laid a wreath on behalf of the Government of Canada.
CHINATOWN REMEMBRANCE DAY CEREMONY
VANCOUVER, BC - Senator Martin brought greetings on behalf of the Government of Canada at the Remembrance Day Ceremony in Chinatown. There the Chinese community as well as many other cultural communities came together to pay tribute to veterans.
