Surrey, BC - Senator Yonah Martin spoke to a Grace 9 Social Studies class about the Senate of Canada and the role of a Parliamentarian.
JANUARY 12-15 - VISIT TO CALGARY & EDMONTON
Calgary, AB - Senator Martin visited Calgary to present Dr. Hyun Ju Cho with a Senate 150 medal for his outstanding service and dedication to the Calgary Korean community, in particular for seniors. Senator Martin also visited the Calgary Korean Language School and also attended a community roundtable with leaders of the Calgary Korean Community to discuss community and upcoming Korean War Veterans commemorations in 2019. In the evening, Senator Martin spoke to hundreds of university students about the Senate of Canada and the work done by parliamentarians. Edmonton, AB - Senator Martin went to Edmonton to present the Sejong Multicultural Centre with a Senate 150 Medal for their dedicated service to the local community. She also attended meetings with the community leaders and Korean War Commemorative Committee of Edmonton to discuss 2019 commemorations for veterans.
JANUARY 9 - KOREA-CANADA INTER-PARLIAMENTARY FRIENDSHIP GROUP DELEGATION
Vancouver, BC - As Co-Chair of the Canada-Korea Interparliamentary Friendship Group, Senator Martin welcomed her counter-parts from the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea. The visiting assembly men and women are members of the Korea-Canada Inter-parliamentary Friendship Group.
JANUARY 7 - KWVA NEW YEAR LUNCHEON
Vancouver, BC - Senator Yonah Martin attended a special New Year Luncheon organized for the Korean War Veterans Association of Western Canada's members.
