SENATOR MARTIN’S SPEECH AT THE 65TH ANNIVERSARY OF BATTLE OF KAPYONG COMMEMORATION

Minister, Excellencies, colleagues, distinguished guests, proud members of the Canadian military, friends, and honoured Veterans of the Korean War.

Good morning/afternoon. Bon matin/apres-midi.

C’est un honneur pour moi d’être ici avec vous pour commémorer la 65ieme anniversaire de la bataille de Kapyong.

I am honoured to be here today to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Battle of Kapyong.

In April of 2011, with valuable input from Captain Richard Dumas of PPCLI, veterans Vince Courtenay, Bill Black and KVA Unit 7 members, my very dedicated staff and the expertise of Canada Remembers, we marked the 60th anniversary of Kapyong at the National War Memorial for the first time in Canadian history for this historic battle.
