"The Korean Community in Sudbury, ON, honours local Veterans.Senator Martin Participates." The Korean War Veteran (July 10)

On her way to Ottawa from Vancouver, to participate in the unveiling of the Korean War Veterans Commemorative Silver Dollar, Senator Yonah Martin made a heartfelt stop at Sudbury, in Northern Ontario.

She had been invited by the leader of the Sudbury Korean Canadian Association to attend one of the annual picnics that they hold to honour the area’s Korean War Veterans.

Though the city, devoted mostly to mining during the years of the Korean War was not very big, roughly 500 volunteers from the Sudbury region served in Korea, and seven of them died there.
