VanDusen Botanical Garden Visitor Centre Ground Breaking
Senator Martin was honoured to join with the guests and staff of the VanDusen Botanical Gardens on behalf of the Prime Minister and the Government of Canada at one of our city’s most beautiful and historic locations.
The construction of the new visitors centre demonstrates our joint commitment to advancing green technologies and jobs. Together we are investing in the sustainability and future of our city, province and country.
For years the VanDusen Botanical Garden has engaged students, tourists, and those looking for a calm, relaxing space amongst the business of city life. The Gardens have served as a place for people of all generations to take in the beauty and wonder of nature.
The improvements to the centre will ensure the continued enjoyment of the garden by expanding the administrative and educational space, and encouraging increased tourism.
Senator Martin thanked the City of Vancouver, the Province of British Columbia and the VanDusen Botanical Garden Association for their investment.
Not all cities are so lucky to have a spectacular natural space within their core, within the view of the mountains and the dramatic cityscape- it is my honour to be here today to witness the expansion and preservation of our city jewel.
