SENATOR MARTIN ATTENDS WREATH-LAYING CEREMONY WITH MEMBERS OF UKCIA
OTTAWA, ON – On June 4th, the United Korean Commerce and Industry Association convened in Ottawa for their 21st Annual General Meeting and to participate in the 3rd
Canada Korea Economic Forum on Parliament Hill. The Forum provided a chance for Korean-Canadian leaders of the business community to have the opportunity to inform and discuss key issues that impact small businesses with Parliamentarians and officials. Over the course of the day, participants took part in several sessions that focused on identifying key issues and discussing solutions to support small businesses in Canada.
After the opening ceremony in the Senate Chamber, the first order of business was to pay respects to Canada’s fallen and to the veterans of the Korean War in a wreath-laying ceremony officiated by Korean War Veteran Bill Black at the Monument to the Canadian Fallen. Senator Martin laid a wreath on behalf of the Government of Canada, followed by Mr. Bong-sup Lee (President of UKCIA) and Colonel Choi (Defence Attache of ROK). The remaining veterans and participants were then invited to place their poppies on the monument in a show of remembrance and respect.
