REMEMBRANCE WEEK

LEST WE FORGET

OTTAWA, ON – The Honourable Yonah Martin, Deputy Leader of the Official Opposition in the Senate, joined Canadians across Canada in honouring our beloved Veterans and men and women in uniform, past and present, during Veterans Week 2019.

November 3rd marked the annual day of remembrance for “Animals in War Day”, as proclaimed by the Ottawa Mayor and Council. Since the day of its unveiling in 2012, the Animals in War memorial is an important reminder of the contribution of animals in Canada's war history, from transporting food, water and ammunition to detecting poisonous gas in the battle field. The late Lloyd Swick, a WWII and Korean War Veteran was the driving force and visionary of the Animals in War Dedication project.  The Animals in War monument that stands in Ottawa's Confederation Park is a part of Lloyd's legacy.
