HISTORIC VISIT OF THE DEPUTY MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND THE AMBASSADOR OF THE REPUBLIC OF BULGARIA TO B.C.
Vancouver, BC – Senator Yonah Martin, founding Co-Chair of the Canada-Bulgaria Parliamentary Friendship Group, Honorary Consul of Bulgaria in B.C. Ron Suh, and members of the B.C. Bulgarian community welcomed Mr. Georg Georgiev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Her Excellency Svetlana Stoycheva-Etropolski of Bulgaria to Vancouver this week.
This is the first official visit of Bulgarian officials to British Columbia in the history of Canada-Bulgaria relations. Prior to their arrival, the delegation first landed in Montreal on Sunday, January 26th. In Montreal, the delegation held important stakeholder meetings with leaders of the Bulgarian community, Bulgarian language schools, business council members; and visited the Bulgarian church St Ivan Rilski. The delegation next travelled to Ottawa for bi-lateral meetings with Global Affairs officials.
