SENATOR YONAH MARTIN CELEBRATES CANADA KOREA 150 ON PARLIAMENT HILL

 

OTTAWA, ON – Today, the Honourable Yonah Martin was joined by His Excellency Ambassador Shin; Members of Parliament, Ali Ehsassi and John Brassard; Veterans of the Korean War; members of the Canadian military the Korean community (from across Canada), to participate in the inaugural flag raising of the Korean national flag (Taegukgi) on the steps of Centre Block on Parliament Hill.

The ceremony was part of a 3-day Canada Korea 150 progam, that also included a wreath-laying ceremony at the Monument to Canadian Fallen; receptions and meetings; and a grand celebration on October 2 in the historic John A. MacDonald building. This main event was organized by the Canada Korea Interparliamentary Friendship Group, and hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea (as National Foundation Day and Armed Forces Day were also commemorated).
