CEREMONIES TAKE PLACE ACROSS CANADA

Communities commemorated the 66th anniversary of the signing of the July 27, 1953 Korea War Armistice at the 6th annual Korean War Veterans Day ceremonies at designated sites and venues across Canada.

Since the enactment of Senator Yonah Martin and MP Blaine Calkins’ Bill S-213 (Korean War Veterans Day Act), July 27th has been designated in perpetuity as the official day of remembrance of the 26,791 Canadians who served and sacrificed their lives during the Korea War (1950-1953); the 516 Canadians who made the ultimate sacrifice and the 1,042 who were injured in service to Canada; and some 7,000 Canadians who served in peacekeeping duties following the signing of the Armistice.
